Redshirt freshman tackle Chris Barney did not receive much playing time in the beginning of the spring because he was somewhat buried on the depth chart. Barney look considerably more fit as he has improved his conditioning since he first arrived at UM. The following are his thoughts on the spring.

For the past few months, Miami (Fla.) Northwestern standout offensive lineman Chris Barney was one of the state's most heavily recruited prospects. Many felt good about UM's chances with Barney for most of the process. Now the talented lineman takes us into the process.

<b>MIAMI, Fla.</b> - Christopher Barney is 6-foot-6, 330-pound offensive lineman from Miami Northwestern High School and made his decision to attend the University of Miami today at a press conference hosted in the school auditorium. Other schools in consideration were North Carolina State, Oklahoma, and USC.

Chris Barney had already been to UM several times for unofficial visits and on Friday he began his official trip to the school. "It was nice," Barney said. "It's the first time I took an official visit there. They got a great program -- the players, coaches, and everything."
