Last year was not a very good year for UCF football. Besides having a losing record (4-8, 3-5 C-USA) and an offense that struggled, the Knights were overwhelmed by injuries. Thankfully, many of the players that the team believes will be key contributors are healthy again. Some of the big names that are returning this year are Corey Rabazinski, Cory Hogue, Rocky Ross, and A.J. Guyton.

There's been a string of coughs, sniffles and all kinds of other sinus problems going around UCF for the past month or so. Yes the drastic weather change has caused students all around campus to come down with acute coryza, and while everyone is hoping they don't get sick, there are some player's on the football team that are hoping to catch more than just a cold.

Although the Knights are off to a disappointing 2-4 start, some of their individual players has been noticed by NFL scouts. There have been scouts from various NFL teams taking in some of the action at Bright House Networks Stadium, and as we look among the top seniors in Conference USA, the Knights secondary is rich with draft prospects. Down 24-10 with just several minutes left in the game, things seemed desolate for UCF as it appeared that USF would beat them for a fourth straight year. An interception and two touchdowns later, the Knights made an improbable comeback to fall literally inches short in overtime. Losing 31-24, the Knights must cope with a heartbreaking loss, but even in defeat, there are bright spots.

The UCF football team is working hard this summer. The main focus is on strength and conditioning that will assist the team in defending its Conference USA Championship. Senior wide receiver Rocky Ross recently spent some time talking with the UCF Athletics communications staff regarding his preparations during the summer sessions and the importance of senior leadership on the football team.

Nine UCF football players were named to Phil Steele's preseason All-Conference USA teams and senior cornerback Joe Burnett was named to the publication's preseason fourth-team All-American defensive unit on Monday. Steele's annual college football preview will hit newstands on June 10.
