Alfred, five other Cougs earn Pac-10 plaudits

WASHINGTON STATE senior center Kenny Alfred has earned second-team all-Pac-10 honors, the conference announced Tuesday. The recognition for Alfred is especially notable in light of the fact he was playing on the lowest-scoring Cougar offense in modern history. Five other Cougars -- including true freshman Travis Long -- earned honorable mention honors.

Wulff lauds Cougar players post practice

PULLMAN–Paul Wulff had high praise for his Cougars after the second practice session of the week yesterday. "Maybe (it was) because there was no school, we didn't have 7 a.m. meetings, they had 10 a.m. meetings -- but our guys are getting better, and they're working at it and I couldn't ask for more than what they're giving right now. They're giving a great effort and working hard," said Wulff.

WSU TRUE FRESHMAN Jeff Tuel made his Cougar debut Saturday at USC and surprised many, but perhaps just as big a story was the Wazzu defense. After allowing 20 points in the first quarter, Washington State shut out the Trojans the next two quarters in a 27-6 loss.
