Lance on Portland Beavers pitchers

Gary Lance was the Portland Beavers pitching coach in 2007. While he has since moved on, Lance was able to provide his thoughts on many of the arms that came through the Triple-A ranks, including Clay Hensley, Jack Cassel, Tim Stauffer, Scott Cassidy and Ryan Ketchner. Lance gives his brutally honest take on each player.

Naylor gets a first; Lauderdale two

Aaron Rakers and Scott Cassidy haven't had much fun of late. Josh Geer allows four hits but four runs as well. Matt Buschmann continues his dominance. Jodam Rivera had a good day at the plate but didn't receive much help. Brian Lauderdale goes yard twice but Dustin Gibbs is hammered, denying a Mat Latos win. Clint Naylor does something he has never done.

Stauffer denied by bullpen; Macias on a tear

Scott Cassidy blows a great outing from Tim Stauffer. Drew Macias has been on a tear since coming back from Portland. Aeden McQueary is pressed into action in the California League. Jeremy Hunt has been a run-producing machine. Robert Woodard was tagged for a solo homer and Corey Kluber gets a no-decision. Jeudy Valdez supplies the offense but Vantroit Medina can't hold in the twelfth.

Cassidy blows it; Buschmann rebounds

Scott Cassidy gets his chance and does not do too well. Josh Geer dropped his second in a row. Matt Buschmann rebounded nicely after a down start and the Storm invade PETCO on Saturday. Jeremy Hunt powered Fort Wayne to the winner's circle to snap a five-game losing streak.

Deago tricks; Rivera a treat

Scott Cassidy looks wonderful in a rehab assignment. Roger Deago pitched another dandy and offense comes from a rare source. Brent Carter gives up five homers and eight runs but was still in position to win. Jodam Rivera pounded a single up the gut with two outs in the ninth to send the game into extras where Fort Wayne won easily.
