Summary: It started off as a good team, but trades and injuries led the San Diego Padres to accelerate the development time of players such as Kyle Blanks and Will Venable. Players that Portland counted on to fill the void did not, as the Beavers finished with the worst record in the Pacific Coast League.

Josh Banks posts a solid start and Eliezer Alfonzo goes yard for the third straight game. Ernesto Frieri gives up three runs while Mitch Canham drives in one during a San Antonio loss. Logan Forsythe hits the game winner – one of three extra base hits for him. Jaff Decker piles on five RBI and Allan Dykstra homers.

Will Inman has his first solid start in Portland but it goes for naught. Nathan Culp propels the Missions to a shutout while Kellen Kulbacki gets his first three-hit game. Everth Cabrera accounts for four runs but Wynn Pelzer surrenders seven. Erik Davis puts in another solid start and Jaff Decker breaks out of his biggest slump ever.

Chad Huffman goes yard for the sixth time in his last 13 while Mike Ekstrom has been a stud in relief. Ernesto Frieri continues to put in quality outings with another win. Wynn Pelzer provides the Storm with a tremendous start when they need it most. Stiven Osuna posts shutout ball while Dan Robertson and Jaff Decker pace the offense.

Matt Buschmann has a bounce-back performance and Eliezer Alfonzo provides the magic in the 12th. Cesar Carrillo puts together his finest start – ever – but is not rewarded with a ‘W'. Craig Cooper, however, hits a blast in inning 12 to break a scoreless tie. Jeremy Hefner had a rough outing – the shortest of his career. Mat Latos toys with the Midwest League again and Ali Solis provides the stick.

Josh Banks throws too many pitches in too short a time but keeps his team in the game. Portland's offense doesn't comply. Ernesto Frieri pitches well but the bullpen is hit hard. Yefri Carvajal sets two career-highs and Corey Kluber continues his fine season. Alexis Lara lasts one-third of an inning and getting one out was the lone highlight.
