The Pittsburgh Pirates haven't been in the playoffs since 1992, but many Pirates fans are living vicariously through the exploits of the Detroit Tigers. Former Pirates skipper Jim Leyland manages the Tigers and has a coaching staff full of ex-Bucs. Former Pirate and Upper St. Clair native Sean Casey who was shipped to Detroit at the trade deadline is enjoying the ride.

Chris Shelton had a monster April, but had slowed mightily since, hitting just 6 home runs since April, and overswinging in many instances. The Tigers decided they needed more production from first, and so on Monday, the Tigers optioned Chris Shelton to Toledo, and traded for Pittsburgh first baseman Sean Casey.
