On December 28, former Houston Bellaire and Florida Gator Jai Lucas announced his intentions to transfer to Texas and play for head coach Rick Barnes. After the completion of all of the necessary paperwork to make the transfer official, Lucas began working out with the Longhorns a week ago and is beginning to get settled.

Last week the sophomore announced he would be transferring from Florida after the fall semester. Lucas, who started every game for the Gators last season, averaged 8.5 ppg. as a freshman.

Fresh off of their first exhibition game of the season, the Florida Gators got a bit of surprising news on Wednesday when starting guard Jai Lucas approached Head Basketball Coach Billy Donovan with his intentions of transferring. Donovan passed this on to the media Wednesday only an hour or so after talking it over with Lucas.
