MLB veteran Jack Hannahan exploded for four hits for Louisville in a rehab appearance Wednesday. He’s been on the DL since a shoulder surgery last October and now working his way back while the Reds are in need of some reserve action during the injury of a couple of all-star infielders.

The Reds and GM Walt Jocketty have been very active this offseason capped off by the deal to bring in leadoff hitter Shin-Soo Choo from the Indians. One day later it was announced that another Indian, free agent infielder Jack Hannahan, will join the Reds for 2013. Cincinnati had a need to add infield depth after granting free agency to veterans Cario, Valdez, and Rolen.

The Oakland A's started spring with a crowded major league camp, with 63 players on-hand, the most since Billy Martin brought 80 players to camp in 1982. While only 25 of those players will break camp with the team, there are more who are likely to be key cogs for the A's over the next few years.
