Catron Named 2nd Team All-Conference

Eugene Ore. -- Senior forward Joevan Catron has been named to the 2010-11 Pac-10 All-Conference Second Team it was announced by the league office on Monday. Catron is the 41st player in school history to be recognized as all-league, and the first Oregon player to receive the accolade since the 2007-08 season when Maarty Leunen was named to the second team.

Catron Makes A Request

If it works for football so it should do the same for basketball. At least that is what senior post man Joevan Catron believes. Catron is making his final home appearance as an Oregon Duck on Saturday against Stanford in Matt Court and has asked fans to turn out wearing white.

Conference Player of the Week

Senior Joevan Catron was named Pacific-10 Conference Player of the Week today according to the Pac-10 web site for the week ending on February 6. Catron led the Ducks to a sweep over the Washington schools last weekend.

The Ducks went cold and couldn't buy a break against the tough defense of Washington State Saturday night. The 62-53 loss puts the Ducks squarely on "the bubble" for the NCAA tournament. Were they robbed by the refs? More likely it was shooting 4-17 from the arc, but the boys in black and white didn't do the Ducks any favors.

Fifth Spot Could Be A Combination

The Oregon Ducks are headed into the 2007-08 season feeling very good about themselves. After all they took everyone by surprise last year by winning the Pac-10 Tournament, then making a bold statement by making it to the Elite-8 in the NCAA March Madness. Spokane -- Oregon freshman forward Joevan Catron came in off the bench against Miami (Ohio) in yesterday's 58-56 Oregon win in the first round of the NCAA Men's Tournament and gave the Ducks a defensive spark. Tomorrow the Oregon faces Winthrop in the second round.
