The Phillies had to make two roster moves Wednesday to officially get their roster down to the 40 man limit. To clear the room, the Phillies sold the contract of Chris Roberson to the Baltimore Orioles and assigned Pete La Forest to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

There were some who thought that Chris Roberson should have started the season with the big league club. Others even thought he should have been given a chance to be their starting center fielder. Now, Roberson is in the majors and is just happy to be there.

It is a tactic often used within the judicial system. Witnesses called on to testify take the fifth in order to avoid saying something that could ultimately prove incriminating or damaging to their case. In Clearwater, a different kind of witness has been doing everything in his power to testify on his behalf to win an outfield spot with the parent club as they head north. Chris Roberson is his name and with Pat Gillick as judge, the question becomes, "will Roberson take the fifth?"

The only thing potentially standing in the way of Chris Roberson being the Phillies starting center fielder in the near future is other players. The future of center field will belong to one of a group of players, which certainly includes Roberson near the top of the list.
