Off the Schneid

The season of Pac-10 perfect futility is over. After losing their first six conference series of 2007, and seven straight going back to the end of the 2006 season, Stanford Baseball on Sunday took the rubber game against Washington with a 10-7 victory. Six Stanford batters had multiple-hit games, with plenty of power at the plate. Starter Erik Davis gave up just one earned run in 6 2/3 innings.

Card Outlast Texas To Salvage Series

In a nine-inning contest that lasted nearly four hours, the Cardinal were able to salvage a game of their series at Texas. Stanford scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to break a tie and then held off a Longhorn rally in the bottom of the frame for a 10-8 win. Card Throw Game Away

Austin Yount's throwing error in the bottom of the ninth inning scored the winning run for California in a dramatic 7-6 affair on Friday afternoon. Yount's miscue was one of three costly throwing errors for the Cardinal infield during the series-opener. On a positive note, Stanford did rally in the ninth inning to extend the game while two hitters continue to emerge offensively as go-to players in the Cardinal lineup.

Bootleg Video: Brendon Domaracki Post-Game

It is never too early in the season to have heroes, and sophomore OF Brendon Domaracki was a big one Friday night at Sunken Diamond for Stanford Baseball. His pinch-hit game-winner against #5-ranked Cal State Fullerton gave the Cardinal a 2-1 win and shot in the arm to start of the 2006 season. He answered questions afterward on the at bat, Stanford's pitching, and the importance of the win.

Card Open Season With Victory

Brendan Domaracki's pinch-hit RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning sent the Cardinal to a thrilling 2-1 victory over 5th ranked Cal State Fullerton on Friday night. A well-pitched contest all the way around saw Stanford hurlers Greg Reynolds and Jeremy Bleich both excel on the mound on this night.
