Jerome Randle of California was named Portsmouth Invitational MVP as he highlighted the 12-man All-Tournament team, despite his Roger Brown's squad losing in the title game. Rider's Ryan Thompson was the P.I.T.'s leading scorer with 24.0 points per game with a tournament-high 37 points. Northern Iowa's Jordan Eglseder had a camp-best 30 rebounds. Kalin Lucas was named First-Team All-Big Ten on Monday, becoming just the 13th player in Michigan State history to be a two-time first-team honoree. Draymond Green was a unanimous selection for Sixth Man of the Year honors, becoming the first Spartan to win the award since it was first introduced in 2006.

In a game that should have been a breather, Michigan State was fortunate to escape the Breslin Center with a win over a scrappy Penn State squad who shot the lights out and capitalized on a subpar performance by the Spartans. Still, the win keeps MSU conference titles hopes alive.
