The Pirates recalled catcher Jason Jaramillo from Triple-A Indianapolis on September 1. Jaramillo will functions as the Pirates' emergency catcher down the stretch. The 28-year-old missed around two months earlier this season with an injured right elbow. PiratesDugout.com's George Von Benko caught up with Jaramillo.

Pirates rookie catcher Jason Jaramillo has certainly made the most of his opportunity filling in as the team's everyday catcher since starter Ryan Doumit suffered a broken right wrist. There is no denying that the Phillies need some assistance in the catching department at the major league level, which is why they were pursued David Ross, only to lost him to the Boston Red Sox. So, with just a small amount of choices to pick from on the trade market, the Phillies could look in-house.

Jason Jaramillo is starting his second full season at the Triple-A level and is basically ready for the majors, but right now, the Phillies don't need him, so he's playing for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. While he's there, he's taking the opportunity to get better at every part of his game.
