Ryan Coultas was drafted as an infielder, but when his career came to a crossroads after the 2007 season, he was left with a choice – face free agency or try his hand at pitching. The shortstop-turned-pitcher gave it a go and the early returns were quite impressive. However, an elbow injury derailed his path and having failed to make it all the way back, Coultas chose retirement this week.

Ryan Coultas' career was on an upswing in 2009 before a shoulder injury cut short his first year as a starter. Now, the right-hander is working his way back with hopes of regaining the momentum he had early last season. Coultas remains in Florida, rehabbing, working, and anticipating the day he can return to action.

Right-hander Ryan Coultas found a rhythm during his first season as a starter in the Binghamton rotation. In fact, he was the B-Mets most consistent starter through the first eight weeks, but a labrum injury popped up in early June which ended his promising season. Originally struck with bad news, the diagnosis turned out to be much better than expected and he now feels ready to go for 2010.

MANCHESTER, NH – It started off at a blistering pace, but Friday night's contest between Binghamton and the New Hampshire FisherCats developed into an extra-inning battle with the B-Mets emerging victorious after 13 innings. The B-Mets got off to a slow start, but one big positive to come out of the game was the effectiveness and stamina of new starter Ryan Coultas.

Ryan Coultas spent the first four years of his professional career as a utility infielder, but when it became evident a position switch would save his career, the right-hander went to the mound. Now in his second season of pitching, Coultas has returned to Double-A with a spot in the rotation after spending last season in the bullpen.

The first half of the Florida State League season could not have gone worse for the High-A Mets as the offense starved for runs over an extended period of time. By the second half, the lineup showed resiliency as they made a push to claim a playoff spot. But they could not maintain their consistency, and they fell out altogether. Yet there were names that stood out, so we hand out some awards.
