When Alabama ended last football season, the belief was that the Crimson Tide would have its linebacker corps back intact in 2009. Brandon Fanney's suspension in the spring, then permanent dismissal from the team prior to the start of fall camp, meant a change in the linebacker group.

The Alabama Crimson Tide football team practiced twice on Friday as preparations for the Allstate Sugar Bowl continued. The Tide began their Friday with a full pads practice inside the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility in the morning, and the second practice moved outside in shells for the evening workout.

Ranked number one in the nation has its benefits, but it can also add pressure to the players. Two year head coach of Alabama, Nick Saban, wants his players to hold a strict mentality: focus on this next game. Saban recently quoted Brett Favre, NFL quarterback of the New York Jets, who said, "what you do [in the last game] matters, but it doesn't because there's always the next game."
