Mid-October is upon us which means the start to another basketball year. Madness in Manhattan will take place Friday night in Bramlage Coliseum with the introduction of KSU's men's and women's teams. Missing from this year's "Madness" will be the greatest 1-2 punch in KSU history in Michael Beasley and Bill Walker. They're gone, but coach Frank Martin says, not forgotten.

The top three scorers and four of the top five scorers in the Orlando Summer League were selected in the recent NBA Draft. Courtney Lee of Orlando averaged 20.2 points per game after scoring a league-best 30 points in the final game. Michael Beasley from Miami and Brook Lopez of New Jersey averaged 19.6 points. Jeff Green of Oklahoma City missed his final game, but scored 91 in his four contests.

The Miami Heat defeated Chicago 94-70 in their Orlando Summer League opener. The Heat were led by second overall pick Michael Beasley, who finished with 28 points and nine rebounds as they never trailed in the game. Top pick Derrick Rose had ten points and four assists, but had five turnovers.
