The seniors that remain on the Kentucky Wildcat team have been through a lot of adversity, the losing of games, the probationary period, the threat of losing their head coach, and a constant swirl of negativity coming from various and sundry quarters. But through it all the survivors are now reaping the benefit of their resolve.

On teams that are competitive in a league like the Southeastern Conference, there have to be players waiting in the wings to be plugged into positions vacated by graduation and attrition. Eric Scott of Kentucky is one of those players.

Matt McCutchan wanted a sixth year of eligibility because he was convinced Kentucky was going to have a successful season and get to a bowl game. Even though the Wildcats are 3-4 going into Saturday's game at Mississippi State, McCutchan has not given up on this season -- or Kentucky's football future.

There are many specials things about Kentucky football, and more importantly many special people involved with the program. If you have not had the pleasure of meeting many of the great coaches on this staff, you would not be able to get to the core of what is going on with Kentucky Football. "These guys are great" may be the slogan for the PGA Tour, but it also holds true for the coaching staff that has been assembled to turn this program around.

Nothing can make an offensive lineman look better than a running back who can pick the right hole and also occasionally break a tackle to gain extra yardage. That's why offensive linemen are so protective of running backs who make their jobs easier.
