UConn's APR Appeal Denied by NCAA

Connecticut announced Thursday that the school's final appeal of a 2013 postseason ban for the men's basketball team because of poor academic performance has been denied by the NCAA. Unless the Committee on Academic performance changes its data collection process later this month or in July, the Huskies will be banned from the Big East and NCAA tournaments.

STORRS, Conn. – Connecticut center Andre Drummond had no idea coach Jim Calhoun would be returning to basketball practice Friday afternoon – so soon after having back surgery on Monday. Drummond walked on the Gampel Pavilion court, did a double take, then ran over to the Hall of Fame coach and gave him a big hug.

Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun has decided to have surgery on Monday in an attempt to relieve the pain being caused by his spinal stenosis and he will miss at least two more games, UConn announced Wednesday afternoon.
