Catanese Hopes for Good Showings in Hawaii

For some of the Sun Devils, the Hawaii Bowl marks the first time they've ever been to the Aloha State. For Zach Catanese this is second visit, with a third one coming in less than three weeks. But thoughts about the Hula Bowl have been put on-hold for the safety. After all, he knows he will have his hands full on Sunday. Devils Digest caught up with Catanese in a phone interview from Hawaii.

Everything is Clear Now for Catanese

Zach Catanese suffered a concussion against Stanford a few weeks back. Against Oregon State last week, he came early out of the contest and was on the bench for long periods of the game thereafter, claming he didn't feel right. Even though he's not sure if those events are connected or not, his outlook on the remainder of the season is far less murky.

Humbled by Honor, Confident in His Abilities

On Thursday, senior Zach Catanese was named to the Jim Thorpe Award watch list. Like some of the opposing players on the receiving end of his tackles, he never saw it coming. On the other hand, the safety fully realizes his skills and how together with good friend Josh Barrett, can the two become a major force to reckon with in 2006.
