OAKLAND, Calif. - Kim Grinolds and Chris Fetters of Dawgman.com talked at length Saturday night about the Huskies' 48-7 loss to Cal earlier that day, the Usain Bolt-like exit of Tyrone Willingham and where Washington goes with their new head coach, USC Offensive Coordinator Steve Sarkisian.

BERKELEY, Calif. - Leaving the program he recently characterized as 'downtrodden', Tyrone Willingham nearly got out of Dodge unscathed. With an unprecedented 0-12 season now in the books and a million-dollar buyout in his back pocket for the effort, Willingham began to climb the stairs that lead to the opponent's locker room in Memorial Stadium. But he got caught.
In four seasons as the head coach at the University of Washington, Tyrone Willingham won exactly 11 games. In Berkley on early Saturday afternoon he had a chance to win his final game at the helm of the Huskies, but like 36 other games, he failed in his last attempt to salvage anything from this forgettable season, losing to Cal on the road 48 – 7.
Last week in Pullman, one-third of Martin Stadium had to be wearing purple. The east end zone was packed with Washington fans and there had to be about 8-9,000 of them. All were there to root for a bad team; so bad that they hadn't even won a single game. Yet there they were, the true fans, wishing and hoping that it would happen; that they would get to see their Huskies finally win a game.

For Washington fans, I would think it's best to forget the Apple Cup and move on. Move on to a new beginning. Move on to a new system, a new coach, a new year, a new era, a new schedule, and hopefully a new attitude. Boy is it ever time for a change in Husky football!
