The Vandal football team improved to 3-3 on the season and a perfect 2-0 in WAC competition with their 28-20 Homecoming victory over New Mexico State Saturday afternoon in the Dome. As part of the game's festivities, Idaho unveiled a NEW streamlined Joe Vandal mascot. Expect to see the new Joe become a much more active part of Vandal Game Day. Idaho needed a "perfect" game to be competitive with Oregon State, and that didn't happen Saturday. The defense put up a strong effort against an explosive OSU offense, but with the Idaho offense unable to budge the defense eventually yielded 38 points. In a game with very few bright spots, JC transfer wide receiver MARLON HAYNES played in his first game for Idaho and provided one of the best catches of the day and gave a glimpse into what Idaho has to look forward to in the weeks ahead. Haynes was one of several athletes available to speak to the media after this game about what happened this week.

In a game fitting for a Halloween weekend, and a night where the Vandals put up 582 yards of total offense, Idaho (2-3 WAC, 2-6) prevailed 38-37 Saturday night over New Mexico State (0-4 WAC, 0-8) in double-overtime on a gutsy two-point conversion.
