This Saturday the Vandals will host the Utah State Aggies in the finale of what has turned out to be a season to remember for Idaho fans. Coach Akey and crew have delivered on promises made three years ago when they took over the Idaho program, making the Vandals the surprise of the WAC in 2009. Twelve seniors will play their last home game in Moscow Saturday, as the team battles for a bowl bid.

Led by Outland Trophy and Lombardi Award candidate senior MIKE IUPATI (6-6, 330), the Vandals boast the biggest, strongest, and deepest line assembled at Idaho in a decade. With a solid stable of tailbacks, strong competition under center, and a developing receiving corps, the Vandal line - featuring four seniors with game day experience - will be counted on to set the tone for the 2009 season.

This afternoon the University of Idaho announced senior offensive guard Mike Iupati and junior defensive tackle Jonah Sataraka were named to Phil Steele's preseason All-Western Athletic Conference First-Team. They are joined by safeties Shiloh Keo and Virdell Larkins on the 2nd team, junior tailback Deonte Jackson on the 3rd team, senior offensive lineman Bryce Sinclair on the fourth team.

Senior left tackle BILLY BATES (6-5.5, 280) was honored this week with the Vandal Pride Award for his performance last Saturday against New Mexico State, when Idaho's senior-laden offensive line paved the way for 271-yards rushing in the Idaho victory. Bates and his fellow linemen face an enormous task this week as San Jose State rolls into Moscow with one of the best defensive lines in the WAC.

Saturday's game at Fresno State was a disappointing loss, but in the process the Vandals scored their most points of the season as they mounted a furious second half comeback before falling to the Bulldogs 45-32 in Fresno, California. True freshman wide receiver PRESTON DAVIS led a three touchdown second half effort by the Vandals, as QB Nathan Enderle threw for 237 yards, three TDs and no picks.
