Just a day ago, Vance Worley was dejected and didn't know what the final few days of the minor league season would hold for him. He had been pulled from his final scheduled start after just an inning, which could have signaled that he was headed for Philadelphia and a Monday start against the Florida Marlins. Instead, he was told the early exit was just to "keep their options open."

Mathieson Just Keeps Proving Himself

Scott Mathieson burst onto the scene in 2006, reaching the majors from Double-A. But just that quickly, he disappeared when not one, but two Tommy John surgeries seemed to derail his hopes for pitching in the majors. The good news is that Mathieson is on track and might be able to help the Phillies bullpen at some point.
