The Rockies released first baseman Mike Jacobs of Triple-A Colorado Springs after he became the first baseball player as well as the first North American athlete to test positive for human growth hormone, a banned substance, and was suspended for 50 games.

BUFFALO, NY - When Mike Jacobs started the season, he expected to be a regular player for the New York Mets. His plan did not go as hoped as Jacobs was quickly sent to Triple-A Buffalo. Since then, Jacobs has done his best to keep his head up, work on his game, and wait for another opportunity with the Mets or elsewhere.

Just a day after the completion of the World Series, two teams made a fairly interesting player swap this morning. The Kansas City Royals, looking to improve one of the majors' worst offensive units, acquired power-hitting infielder Mike Jacobs in exchange for a serviceable reliever, Leo Nunez.
