The 49ers announced today that they have signed rookie tight end Nate Byham, a sixth-round pick from Pitt and the 182nd selection overall, to a four-year deal at undisclosed terms. Byham is the fourth of the team's eight draft picks to sign, joining receiver Kyle Williams from Arizona State, running back Anthony Dixon of Mississippi State and cornerback Phillip Adams of South Carolina State.

When your team's got Vernon Davis on the roster, it's obvious that tight end isn't going to be a big priority in the upcoming draft. However, the 49ers aren't totally set there and with so many gifted prospects available at the position, they could swoop in and grab an under-the-radar guy in the later rounds.

With Zach Miller firmly established as one of the NFL's best tight ends and the young trio of Chaz Schilens, Louis Murphy, and Darrius Heyward-Bey poised to breakout, the Raiders don't view either wide receiver or tight end as a major priority. However, the team might look at some late round guys or potential undrafted free agents to add some depth.
