With all of the fans and current Husky players on the field before the annual Purple & Gold game to end spring practices for the University of Washington several soon-to-be Huskies may have been lost in the crowd. Of the seven 2006 signees on the sidelines, one of the easiest to see was Gig Harbor S Jake Merrill who was decked out in his purple Husky sweatshirt.

While the Texan millionaire made his name solving murder cases, this Matt Houston - from Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta - is known for his own brand of toughness.

Lots of kids from the state of Washington want to play for the Huskies. One player in particular who has bled Purple and Gold his whole life is Gig Harbor S Jake Merrill. Merrill along with five other recruits visited Montlake this weekend and Dawgman.com was able to catch up with the enforcer from south Puget Sound and he talked about his visit and what Husky fans have to look forward to.

Patience is a virtue. Gig Harbor (Wash.) S Jake Merrill is a testament to that old tenet. After being asked by Husky head coach Tyrone Willingham to be patient while the team determined their needs, Merrill received a written offer from the Husky coaching staff on Thursday afternoon and he made his decision quickly thereafter.

What should have been a great weekend for Gig Harbor (Wash.) S Jake Merrill got off to an auspicious start with a tough loss to Shelton Friday night. Merrill and his Tides teammates lost 21-14 to their league rivals in a hard fought game that saw the Gig Harbor line abused all game long by the more experienced High Climbers linemen.
