Well, if you believe in the validity of the "Bo" rometer, you'll be smiling ear-to-ear for this game. Bo was ultra chipper after practice today, saying that the team has had an entire week of good practices with the kind of tempo he likes to see. He even said something I don't think he's said, certainly not this year: "We're ready to play."

A little of the old Nebraska? No, it's not a sprint back to the option days, though, seeing that traditional offense here and there this season isn't out of the question. But there will most definitely be an emphasis on running the ball. When you have Adam Carriker as the standard to follow, sometimes it might all seem like a bit much. He's as big as they come, as strong as they get and he throws tackles around like they are rag dolls. For freshman Mike Smith, it's good, though, because he sees what he needs to do. And he for one, realizes just how far of a road that could be.

You wouldn't think that Mike Smith was as big as he is talking to him on the phone. Then you see Smith's film and you see a big man who can run and who's athletic and you really wouldn't think that you were talking to the same guy. That is just his laid back style off the field, but on the field Mike is all business. Here is Mike Smith, one on one.

I have said it before, but when I saw Mike Smith at the spring game it looked like he could put on 25 pounds overnight, not know where it went and not lose a step. Well, that might have happened. Smith is an explosive player that off the edge at defensive end could be a young Jay Moore or Adam Carriker. But, his body type brought up another name to my mind and I might have been right
