He won't be doing the "duck walk" in front of the crowd this fall, but there is a new player with a familiar sounding name on the Florida football roster. The official roster says he's Jim Barrie, but if you ask his teammates, he's Chuck --- Chuck Barrie, a different spelling but the same pronunciation of Chuck Berry the rock and roll hall of famer.

Jim Barrie is absolutely ecstatic to be a Gator! The only people that might be happier are his parents whose dream came true this week when he signed his scholarship papers for the University of Florida on National Signing Day. After all, Gainesville is like a second home to them. Thanks to Jim's decision to be a Gator, Saturdays at The Swamp will be even more meaningful for this close-knit family.

The life of an offensive lineman isn't the easiest in the world. They do the dirty work and nobody really notices them until they make a mistake. Jim Barrie of Tampa's Berkeley Prep knows all about the tough, dirty work and the lack of recognition but this Gator commitment is all about doing whatever it takes to make his team better. It has to be a strange feeling for Jim Barrie Saturday evening as he watched Florida and Florida State do battle in The Swamp. This is the stadium where he grew up watching the Gators so that was a plus, yet on the other side of the field was FSU, which has recruiting him hard all year. Trying to stay neutral on an electric evening like that was difficult for the big offensive tackle from Tampa's Berkeley Prep.

Offensive lineman Jim Barrie of Tampa Berkeley Prep is one of the more heralded players at any position in the state of Florida. With offers from the likes of Notre Dame, Michigan, Florida State, Tennessee, and Florida, the 6-5, 305 pound lineman has a who's who of offers to choose from. His latest offer came from the University of Florida and the monster lineman actually grew up a Gator fan.
