It certainly may sound peculiar when a senior talks about a fresh start, but when you consider the fact that the player in question is Ryan McFoy, suddenly that statement makes a lot of sense. The Chino (Calif.) star started his ASU career as a promising safety and after two years at linebacker he would like his Sun Devil tenure to end the way it started.

The first fall practice in the indoor facility, let alone one that came earlier than expected had Ryan McFoy grinning from ear to ear, relishing in the experience. On Thursday the weak side linebacker had even more reason to smile. He took reps with the first team and overall has had a strong fall camp that has help put a disappointing 2007 season for him in the rearview mirror.

When safety Ryan McFoy signed a Letter of Intent with the Sun Devils in 2006, he was heralded as one of the best ASU players ever to be recruited at his position. His freshman campaign lived up to the hype and the future looked extremely promising for the Chino (Calif.) standout. Yet, the change in the coaching staff made for a rough transition for McFoy, who was moved to linebacker last season.

As the 2006 season began, all Ryan McFoy could talk to his family about is week six of the Sun Devils' schedule. This is when the true freshman will meet, and at times probably defend, older brother Chris who is a senior wide receiver for USC Trojans.

The temptation was certainly there for Ryan McFoy. Playing with brother Chris, as well as the national champions, seemed too good of a combination to pass over. However, the Chino (Calif.) safety ultimately chose ASU over USC, and his reasoning was quite simple.
