If there has been one great surprise for Trent Pupello, the freshman tight end with the distinguishable long blonde hair that extends way below his helmet onto his shoulder pads, it's the lack of creativity with nicknames. He thought when he got to the University of Florida he would hear a few more names that he hadn't heard before but that hasn't been the case.

When it came time to decide where he would sign a football scholarship, tradition grabbed Trent Pupello by the lapels and reminded him that there was orange and blue blood flowing through his veins. As the son of a former Florida offensive lineman, the big tight end from Tampa Jefferson just couldn't say no to his UF roots when Coach Urban Meyer and the Gators made their pitch. He committed right after the Florida-FSU game to be a part of the recruiting class of 2006.

It's not surprising that Tampa Jefferson tight end Trent Pupello was off to work out when he fielded my call. He seemingly thrives in his role as the dependable warrior whether it's on the playing field, the gym for workouts or in the classroom. This is a kid who is motivated to be the best in whatever he does. Pupello took in a lesson on academic life at Florida this past weekend, and that too, motivated him.

That sound you hear is a giant crack in the recruiting world as the University of Florida just got their ninth commitment in just ten days – all before the month of December.

Trent Pupello is one of the top tight end prospects from the state of Florida. Pupello, 6-4 and 250 pounds, is a three-star prospect from Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson. They just got knocked out of the playoffs and now his attention is on the recruiting process.
