The New Britain Rock Cats opened the Twins 2009 Minor League schedule on Wednesday, dropping an away game against New Hampshire 7-4. Starter Jeff Manship was touched early, and the team got strong efforts from Whitney Robbins and Joe Gaetti at the plate.

Last season, the Oakland A's had only three minor leaguers reach the 20-homer plateau, Tom Everidge, Jason Perry and Jose Pineda. With Perry and Pineda no longer in the organization, it appeared that the A's might have a power shortage in their system in 2008. That has turned out not to be the case. In late April, the Oakland A's signed minor league free agent Joe Gaetti to a contract just a few weeks after he was released by the Colorado Rockies. Gaetti, the son of former Minnesota Twins 3B Gary Gaetti, has been instant offense since joining the A's. In 12 games for two A's affiliates, Gaetti has hit four homers and has driven-in 14 runs.
