BYU Commitments Strengthened

Nearly two dozen Cougar football recruits were on campus this weekend for their official recruiting trips. The visitors had many fun activities scheduled for them during their stay, but the greatest thing they did could not have been planned ahead of time. The recruits, most of them already committed, solidified their allegiance to BYU and started coming together as a team.

Prior to securing a bowl bid, a conference championship, and a national ranking, BYU's coaching staff went out and locked up verbal commitments from every in-state football prospect at the top of their recruiting list. Following a last-second Cougar win over archrival Utah, BYU's commits are more excited than ever to be coming to Provo.

Future Cougar Report: Jason Munns

Southridge High School star Jason Munns recently returned home from a weekend trip to BYU. Munns and his family were on hand to watch John Beck and the Cougar offense put up 52 points against the Running Rebels of UNLV. The 4-star quarterback recruit thought the experience was well worth the 24-hour roundtrip drive from Kennewick, Washington.

Rough Start for Munns

Things did not go as planned for BYU quarterback commit Jason Munns in his season opener. The four-star recruit from Southridge High School in Kennewick, Washington wanted to start his senior season by punishing opposing defenses like he did as a junior, however he ended up being the one on the receiving end of a few punishing blows Saturday night.

The excitement comes courtesy of an early recruiting haul by BYU Head Coach Bronco Mendenhall and his staff. With over seven months to go until signing day, the Cougars have 12 verbal commitments, which comprises over half of their class.
