JJ Hones is no ordinary player. She has a gift for playing point guard. She is a great passer with a steady presence, and garnered more minutes per game her freshman year (24.3) than her more heralded classmate Jayne Appel (19.3).

JJ Hones Gets the Point

Junior point guard JJ Hones took a while to get into the groove last season, but once she did the groove was a deep and sure one. Hones finished up with a sterling 2.6:1 assist-to-turnover ratio and a blossoming offensive game as one of the Card's key outside threats. Hones is even more ready to get the ball where it needs to go, whether to a teammate or into the basket, this season.

Card Steal One in Berkeley

Battle of the Bay II went to the Cardinal 60-58. Hot three-point shooting by JJ Hones and Kayla Pedersen kept the Card in it during the first half. Jayne Appel took over after intermission and Candice Wiggins overcame a terrible shooting day to come up with a key steal and bucket that put the Card in front for good.

Bizarro Cardinal Out-Shoot Santa Clara

The Cardinal rode their best shooting day of the season to slide by the Santa Clara Broncos 96-74 at Santa Clara on Tuesday. JJ Hones scored a career-high 20 points on 5-6 shooting from beyond the arc.
