Tyrone Willingham had a saying he liked to use last year. He was the one person that always left practice disappointed. Disappointed either in the offense or defense, depending on which group had the upper hand that day. Since Thursday's initial practice of spring wasn't done in full pads, he apparently didn't have that much to be disappointed about.

Husky recruiting at a glance

Washington signed 21 prospective student athletes, and has the potential to bring in one more if the academic Gods are on their side. One look at this class and three things come to mind – it has balance, it has the feel of a class that went for immediate help, and it has a decidedly southern flavor to it.

Huskies Sign Three JC Football Prospects

SEATTLE -- The University of Washington has received National Letters of Intent or scholarship agreements from three junior college football players, head coach Tyrone Willingham announced today. Two of the three student-athletes will transfer to the UW in time for the start of the winter academic quarter and the third will enroll for spring quarter. All will be eligible to participate in spring football practice.

Compton LB is done

It's been a long journey, but it finally came to an end today as Compton LB/DE Anthony Atkins gave his verbal pledge to Washington head coach Tyrone Willingham. What seemed like a done deal only weeks ago looked anything but certain for the 6-3, 255-pounder as he took a visit last weekend to Central Florida University. He spoke on the reason for the delay in his commitment and what his plans are as a Husky.

JC defender favors Dawgs

With the loss of two starting linebackers to graduation following the 2005 season, Husky football coaches are concentrating on bringing in a couple playmakers to the defensive side of the ball. One playmaker that has the Huskies square in his sites is Compton CC DE/LB Anthony Atkins. Dawgman.com was able to talk with Atkins before practice this week and he updated us on recruiting and how his season is going.
