Vanderbilt improved to 9-0 on the season Sunday afternoon by defeating the High Point University Panthers 70-54 in Memorial Gym. Christina Foggie led the Dores with 26 points, followed by Tiffany Clarke with 14, and Jasmine Lister with 10. Cheyenne Parker scored 19 for the Panthers.

Transition is fully underway in this season of change for Vanderbilt's graduating student athletes. Trading black and gold threads for the summer gear of jean shorts and t-shirts, four ‘Dores seniors are facing their futures. Thoughts of the final game in a Vandy uniform are fading into the distance as Merideth Marsh declares, "I've moved on. I'm in a different mindset now."

Outsized sixth-seed Vanderbilt was not outgunned and not outplayed in a thrilling 83-76 overtime win against 11th seed DePaul, the taller, more athletic team looking to play spoiler in the Commodores's 23rd NCAA appearance. Defensive stops and offensive spurts shut down the Blue Demons' talented frontline. DePaul Coach Doug Bruno said Vandy's smarts helped, too.

The countdown is on to the First Round of the NCAA Women's tourney. Vanderbilt (22-10) is in Cincinnati and preparing to do what the ‘Dores' higher seeded men's team could not – progress to the Second Round. Sunday's Sacramento sub-regional face-off is with the Big East's taller DePaul (21-11), a squad that would love to don glass slippers and leave Vandy with less than a happy ending.

On Sunday, the four seniors on the women's basketball team will play their final game in Memorial Gym. After the game, fans are invited to stay to enjoy Senior Day festivities. In honor of the special day, Whitney D looks back to the days when the seniors were the new faces on campus.

Playing well beyond their size, Vanderbilt's (13-5, 2-3) injury-plagued and shorthanded Commodores served notice to their east Tennessee rivals that they are still a team to be reckoned with. Previously unbeaten Georgia discovered that Thursday in a 66-44 upset, and Vandy almost repeated the feat in Knoxville.

It's happened before. Twice last year Vanderbilt knocked off the No. 3 and No. 2 ranked teams in the country. Ask Auburn, which suffered both defeats and one in the SEC Championship, if Vanderbilt (11-1) has a chance against unbeaten Notre Dame (11-0).
