Dodgers Prospect #29 - Russ Mitchell

Those who had written Russ Mitchell off apparently had forgotten who they were dealing with. Drafted in 2003 out of high school as a shortstop, he has played the corner spots in both the outfield and infield slots and had displayed a solid bat throughout. His improvement in the second half of the 2009 season kick-started his career and makes him our prospect #27.

August Dodger Pride Awards

The Dodgers have announced the August winners of the Dodger Pride Awards. The Dodger Pride Awards were created in 2008 by General Manager Ned Colletti, and are given on a monthly basis to the players at each level of the club's minor league system who play the game with a hustling, smart, aggressive style. The players and staff on each respective club vote for the awards.

Ivan De Jesus See First 2009 Action

Albuquerque managed just four hits in a 4-1 loss to Nashville. Chattanooga scored six in the fist two innings and held off Mississippi 7-6. The 66ers moving to within a game of a wild card spot with a 6-3 win over Rancho Cucamonga. Great Lakes blasted Fort Wayne 12-5. The Arizona League Dodgers topped the Rangers 7-3 with Ivan De Jesus playing in his first game after breaking his leg in March.

Mitchell Finds a New Home, Again

In the 2005 baseball season, infielder Russ Mitchell would probably have liked to say there is no place like home. For Mitchell though, knowing where that "home" was, that was the difficult part as he played for three teams in the Dodger organization. Now with the Columbus Catfish, Mitchell has started a new season with yet another new team.
