McDonald hoping for strong finish

Right-hander James McDonald allowed three runs on three hits and three walks in six innings of Pittsburgh's loss to the Reds on August 21. The quality start was just his third in seven outings since the All-Star break. He'll take a 4.21 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 115/62 K/BB ratio into his start tonight against the Cardinals. McDonald Hopes To Be Big Part of Bucs Future

Right-hander James McDonald was acquired by Pittsburgh on 7/31 and went 4-5 with a 3.52 ERA in 11 starts with the Pirates (Bucs went 4-7 in his 11 starts). The 26-year old produced a 20.0-inning scoreless streak in September - the longest streak by a Pirates pitcher since Zach Duke in 2005 (22.0 innings).
