Recruiting setback: Cougs lose two verbals

IT'S SHAPING UP AS a not-so-Super Sunday for Washington State football. Two defensive line prospects who had committed to the Cougs earlier in this recruiting cycle are now saying they've been wooed elsewhere and will sign national letters of intent with other schools this Wednesday. In one case, WSU's more stringent academic requirements play a role.

Henderson switches course

When Trey Henderson visited USC for line camp this past summer, it was all done with the idea of getting exposure and getting a chance to get his name out there. Well, it worked. Henderson, a 6-foot-3.5, 270-pound TE/DL from Vancouver Prep in Vancouver, B.C., just returned home from his official visit to Los Angeles with a decision in hand. He's going to be a Trojan.

Taking a page out their playbook from a year ago when the Trojans nabbed a WSU verbal commit late in the recruiting season, they just offered Henderson a scholarship. But will he take it?

OH CANADA: 'Fan-tas-tic' DL goes crimson

COACHES BILL DOBA and Mike Levenseller were out on the recruiting trail today and sealed the deal on one of Washington State's top d-line targets. The newest Coug is a 6-3.5, 265-pounder with great feet and both the frame and work ethic to grow into a top flight d-tackle. An uber-athlete, he's Wazzu's second verbal commitment from North of the Border, and the No. 14 overall member of the class.

Cougs climb to top for Canadian DL

TREY HENDERSON added a Washington State offer to his list today, and the Cougs are now the frontrunner for the British Columbia uber-athlete. The 6-3, 264-pound defensive line prospect's main question headed centered on Pullman -- if he would like the college town atmosphere coming from a bigger city like Vancouver. For Henderson, the answer was a resounding, 'Yes'.
