Tom King and Shawn Wooten provide the heroics for a Portland thriller. San Antonio's sloppy play costs them the game, and manager Bill Masse is not happy. Two players are thrown out running the bases in a Storm loss. Derek McDaid gets his first save opportunity, but it was Luis Durango that saved the day.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA- After getting a year under his belt as a starter, Richie Daigle is back in relief mode. The experience made him better as he is still young in his transition to the mound, and Daigle is one of the few pitchers in the San Diego Padres system still using a slitter.

Josh Geer was hit hard on Wednesday and the Portland offense was absent. Kyle Blanks opens and ends the scoring for San Antonio. The Lake Elsinore offense is silent in a shutout. Felix Carrasco is hitting the extras but is also striking out a lot.

Luke Carlin reaches base five times and Jared Wells gets a rare save opportunity. Drew Macias gets the juices flowing with two extra base hits and Chad Huffman registers four hits. Drew Miller didn't make it through the fifth, as the Storm took a loss. Luis Durango flashed why he was the Northwest League batting champ.

Portland comes within four outs of being no-hit, but Brian Myrow breaks the hex. Gabe DeHoyos can't hold San Antonio close, as the doors swing open in the ninth. The California League's top-hitting team manages just three hits, as two streaks end. Nine runs are not enough for Fort Wayne, as Tyler Davis gives up back-to-back jacks.
