PITTSBURGH – Head men's basketball coach Ron Everhart announced Friday that freshman guard/forward Scott Grote (Centerville, Ohio / Massanutten (Va.) Military Academy) has received his release from Duquesne University, clearing the way for his transfer to another school.

Military Academy) have been named Atlantic 10 Player and Rookie of the Week respectively for their performances in Duquesne's 98-93 overtime win at Boston College on Dec. 28.

Dukes Upset Boston College, 98-93, in OT

The Duquesne Dukes, with head coach Ron Everhart listening from a Passavant Hospital room in Pittsburgh, upset the Boston College Eagles, 98-93, in overtime Thursday night in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The Atlantic 10 team clicnched the win with six straight free throws in the final 20 seconds.

Duquesne tips-off the 2006-07 men's basketball season on Monday, Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m. vs. Youngstown State (1-1) at the Palumbo Center. This is the 91st season of basketball for Duquesne University (1,210-907, .572). The Dukes started play in 1913-14 (DU did not field a team in 1944-45-46 due to World War II).

Duquesne, with eight healthy players and in its first game under head coach Ron Everhart, lost the first exhibition game to Millersville College, 81-77, Wednesday night at the Palumbo Center.
