Line Focusing on Communication

When the Gators needed a few yards for a first down against Bowling Green, it wasn't there. Starting left guard James Wilson blamed it on the communication. The offensive line sometimes got confused between who to block, and the holes weren't there for the Florida running game. Communication will be even tougher this weekend in front of a hostile crowd in College Station.

Wilson Making an Impact

He was one of ten 5-star prospects in the 2007 class. To understand how long he has been in school at Florida, James Wilson signed in the same recruiting class as Pouncey, Pouncey, Rainey, Dunlap, Black, Henry, Haden, Trattou, Wright, Howard, and Thompson, all of which are now playing football in the National Football League and some going on three years. It has been a long road for the big guy.

Wilson Wanted One More Chance

James Wilson didn't want to leave Gainesville with the way his career had gone through the first five years. He wanted one more. Wilson approached the Florida coaches during the 2011 season to ask about getting an extra year of eligibility, and the coaches were on his side. After hearing back from the NCAA and the SEC, he got good news for his sixth and final year on the Florida offensive line.

Wilson Aiming to Stay Healthy

This summer was a rarity for James Wilson. He didn't spend much time in the training room. Wilson, who estimates being healthy for one combined season since coming to campus in 2007, feels close to completely healthy. He has felt this way before in his time at Florida. The challenge now becomes staying healthy.

The Florida Gators will be presenting a lot of new looks and faces to the college football world in 2010 and a few new ones will get some work on the offensive line this year. It is a seasoned bunch that returns this spring, but a few injuries will allow some less experienced to get some work.

Wednesday will mark not only the pro scout day for the Gators looking to start earning money professionally. It will also mark the start of one of the more intriguing spring practices in recent years. Florida lost a ton of talent off the 2009 team which finished third nationally and posted the Gators' third 13-win season in four years.

Wilson Getting Himself Right

It has been two long years for Florida guard James Wilson, but it appears the wait is over and he will see plenty of playing time in this sophomore season. Wilson has been fighting the injury bug for two years, but has been relatively healthy this fall and has played at an elite level according to the Gator coaching staff. He has gone from possible transfer to possible starter in one year.
