Pat Summitt was a few minutes late to practice Thursday, but she had an altruistic reason. Her assistant coaches got started without her, and this time the players were energetic right out of the huddle.

Pat Summitt brought a mirror with her Thursday, passed it around the pre-practice circle, and had each player look at the reflection as a reminder of what it meant to be a Lady Vol. She had planned the lesson before the bulk of her players disappointed her with a sloppy practice the day before, but the timing was apropos.

Pat Summitt's shoulder hasn't been the same since she went one on one with a raccoon last March. The shoulder has popped out seven times since then so the head coach at Tennessee decided it was time to have surgery and join the Lady Vols rehab team.

Jenny Moshak, Tennessee assistant athletics director for sports medicine, announced early Tuesday evening that Lady Vol basketball freshman forward Vicki Baugh had undergone successful knee surgery at UT Medical Center.
