Bedford has Corners Achieving Goals

Gong into the 2008 national championship season, the Gators biggest question mark was at the cornerback position. One year later and they may be considered the biggest strength of the team outside of a Heisman Trophy winning quarterback. Coach Vance Bedford helped mold an extremely young bunch into a very dynamic group and he likes his chances with a group that returns intact.

Spring ball has come and gone for the 2008 Gator football team and you can count me as one person who is more impressed with this team than he was a month or so ago. Florida had a number of players step forward and show that they are ready for bigger roles and better things in the near and long term future.

Wondy relishes role in Gators' SEC title

Wondy Pierre-Louis is ready for the biggest stage in college football. The true freshman, originally from Haiti and now a cornerback at the University of Florida, made a huge impact on the Gators being in the national title game. With his muffed punt recovery in the end zone, Wondy scored a touchdown and allowed the Gators to sieze the momentum from Arkansas and pave the way to the SEC title.

Moments after entering the room at Lely High School it was obvious that Trojans head football coach Chris Metzger represented much more to senior Wondy Pierre-Louis than the traditional player/coach relationship. The Haitian born Pierre-Louis was a long way from his family, but had developed a close bond with the Metzgers that should continue for many years to come.

RECRUITING: UF is the right place for Wondy

The recruiting trail for the Florida Gators continues to bring surprises. The latest is a commitment from 6-0 176 pound cornerback Wondy Pierre-Louis from Lely High School in Naples. Wondy visited Florida during a summer camp session named ‘Friday Night Lights' and knew then that Florida would be a good place for him.
