SPRING DAY 2: Gonzales makes a statement

PULLMAN -- Junior college transfer David Gonzales didn't waste any time making his presence known. In the Cougars' second practice of the spring season on Friday, the big offensive lineman unleashed a pancake block so emphatic that observers were darn near looking around for syrup to go with it. Meanwhile, quarterback Jeff Tuel flashed some fancy footwork, and the defense looked sharp again.

Healthy offensive line an unfamiliar sight

WSU COACH PAUL Wulff paused for a moment to answer a rhetorical question. It has been so long since the Cougars started their original offensive line that Wulff initially thought it had not occurred since the season opener against Stanford. Seconds later, he remembered the correct answer was Sept. 12 against Hawaii -- one who week later in the second game of the season.

Practice Report: Lobbestael on target

PULLMAN -- With QB Jeff Tuel a game time decision for UCLA, Marshall Lobbestael ran the Cougs' first team offense for the majority of a practice for the first time in over a month -- and had a good day doing it.
