Speculation at the end of last week that Idaho head coach DENNIS ERICKSON was negotiating with Arizona State to fill their coaching vacancy ended over the weekend as Erickson accepted an offer to take over the Sun Devils program. It is uncertain at this time how much of his staff at Idaho will stay, but a search to replace Erickson is underway and expected to be swift.

For virtually the entire game Idaho held one of the nation's top scoring offenses to just 13 points. But with just a few minutes left in the game, an ill-fated Idaho pass play and an impressive Aggie punt return breathed life into New Mexico State as they cut Idaho's lead to 28-20, and had a chance to tie the game. The Vandals (3-3 overall, 2-0 WAC) prevailed, but not without a scare.

Idaho head coach Dennis Erickson spoke with the media following Idaho's 38-0 loss to Oregon State. In front of 40,317 fans at remodeled Reser Stadium in Corvallis, and despite a stoic defensive effort, the Vandal offense did not convert a single third or fourth and was unable to sustain a drive to the endzone.

Idaho pushed the Michigan State Spartans to the brink this afternoon, eventually falling to the Big Ten program by a final score of 27-17 in East Lansing. An outstanding effort in Coach Erickson's debut in his second turn as Idaho's head coach, he and Idaho's rebuilt staff had the Vandals prepared this afternoon to stage an upset.
