California Prep Player of the Year J.J. DiLuigi is working hard in order to make an immediate impact as a true freshman on this year's squad. In order to do so, DiLuigi had to overcome, and is still overcoming, a bit of a hiccup physically, but is now working full speed ahead to make an immediate impact.

One of BYU's most high profile recruits this year is no doubt J.J. DiLuigi from Canyon High School in Canyon Country, California. During the last two seasons, DiLuigi rushed for over 4,000 yards and scored over 80 touchdowns. He capped his high school career with an MVP performance in the first ever CIF Bowl state championship game. TBS caught up with DiLuigi after his official visit to BYU.

BYU coaches will give J.J. DiLuigi two position choices when he arrives in Provo. He can compete for a spot among the strongest group of running backs in the Mountain West Conference, or he can move out to the H-receiver position where the depth chart is a little shorter. Wherever he plays, he realizes that he will have a great responsibility to carry on what the graduating seniors started.

BYU running back commit J.J. DiLuigi has one more accolade to put on his already long resume. After helping Canyon High School defeat the nation's #1 ranked team in the California state championship game, DiLuigi took home MVP honors. The recognition affrims DiLuigi's position as one of the top players in the country's most populous state.

Crespi High School should be a familiar name to serious BYU fans. It is the name of the school where former BYU defensive line recruit Sione Fua played before moving on to the Stanford Cardinal. Last Friday, BYU running back commit J.J. DiLuigi helped lead his Canyon Cowboys to a nail biting 38-35 victory over the Crespi Celts. In the game DiLuigi added to his already impressive season stats.
