LINEBACKER JOSEPH EASTER, who was a soft verbal commit to Washington State, took his final recruiting trip this past weekend, to Nevada, and came back with clarity on where he wants to play college ball. But he says his mom, who traveled with him to Nevada this weekend, is still on the fence.

WASHINGTON STATE'S OFFICIAL VISIT to commit ratio has long been impressive and it continues to shine in 2007, with Wazzu landing their sixth known verbal commitment out of a recent group of weekend visitors to the Palouse. The newest Coug is a 240-pound, all-league linebacker with surprising speed (4.49) who led his team in tackles the past two seasons. But is it a solid verbal?

WITH NATIONAL FOOTBALL letters of intent to be signed in just 15 days, the call from here -- presuming all verbals stay in place -- is that the Cougars have just three or four slots left to fill. The final number can fluctuate all the way up until Signing Day, but right now the CF.C projection is that the Cougs' 2007 class will number 23 or 24 -- although that figure could grow with grayshirts.
