Local standout seeing interest heat up

RATED ONE OF the top linebacker prospects in the state by The Oregonian, Redmond High's Kevin Leeland is working on playing his way his season into a few scholarship offers. Interest has heated up for the 6-0.5, 215 pounder from at least one Pac-10 school since Sept. 1, and his combination of power, defensive instincts and that he runs well could mean more is on the way.

Redmond 'backer drawing interest

THE STATE OF OREGON in 2007 looks to be setting up for an above average recruiting year in terms of D-I talent and depth, although more won't be known until after the May evaluation period and summer camps. One who has caught the attention of a number of schools is Redmond's Kevin Leeland. The book on the defenseman is that he's fast, athletic, powerful, aggressive and with great defensive instincts and reaction to the ball.
