You'd think you would have to look within the borders of Nebraska to find those most excited to be a Husker in the future. Not so with Missouri native Demetrious Davis. He's not just excited, he is so amped for the future it's hard for him to put it into to words. But will he make it? Qualifying has been an issue, but Davs has some news for Husker fans.

Players often have things to prove, when it comes to play in all-star games. Demetrious Davis wanted to show that his name belonged in the list of the nation's best defensive tackles. He is proud of his and his team's performance earlier in Orlando, Flor. in the East Meets West All-American game.

Nebraska fans got a taste of what the future might hold on the defensive line for the Cornhuskers when St. Joseph-Benton, (Mo.) Demetrious Davis and Cozad, (Neb.)Jared Crick lined up for the winning West squad at the inaugural East meets West All-Star game at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. The West defeated the East 35-25.

There has been a recent surge of defensive commits for Nebraska including a couple of defensive tackles. Nebraska was quick to snatch up a defensive tackle from nearby St. Joseph, Mo. to start out the year, but some recent rumblings had him wavering. Added to that, he hadn't visited Lincoln yet. Big Red Report puts those rumblings to rest.

Demetrious Davis, the 6-4, 280-pound defensive tackle from St. Joseph-Benton, (Mo.), joined us for the 'Time-Out' series. Davis has verbally committed to the Cornhuskers of Nebraska and says he is firm with his commitment. Davis has a charitable and giving nature, except when he suits up to play football. His speed and tenacity are his trademarks.

Recruiting is something. Just when you think you know everything, you realize you know nothing at all. Well, sometimes when you think all the players have been accounted for from the prep ranks, another one comes along, like the most recent commit DeAndre West. West has company now, as a young man offered just two days ago said he was done recruiting. Nebraska was where he wanted to be.
