WSU HEAD MAN PAUL WULFF was in the CF.C chat room on Thursday and fielded dozens of questions from CF.C subscribers. They heard, among other things, Wulff weigh in on recruiting, the running backs competition, special teams, defense, tackling, getting the ball to on offense to playmakers in a variety of ways, the health of the Cougs as spring ball draws near and a whole lot more.

WASHINGTON STATE COACH Paul Wulff and some of his players were angry when Oregon State went deep and scored 21 fourth-quarter points en route to a 66-13 win two years ago in Corvallis. But Wulff said during his Thursday teleconference it shouldn't mean much to this year's outcome when WSU plays at 1 p.m. Saturday at OSU (TV: Versus).

PULLMAN--As per usual on Monday nights, several players were held out of the short practice session. But that didn't stop the Cougar D from starting to put in the game plan for USC. Last year WSU played the Trojans about even on the scoreboard over the final three quarters but the last time the two faced off in Pullman, it was a beat down, and that memory hasn't faded for safety Tyree Toomer.

PULLMAN - The Cougar offensive line has been mixing and matching from spring ball to fall camp and continuing on through to present day, with that oh-so-crucial ingredient –- depth -- building as the players takes reps and responsibilities at various positions. Tuesday's practice featured more machinations.

PULLMAN -- The Cougars, just seven days away from the opener with Oklahoma State, took the field Saturday morning at Martin Stadium for a brief, hour-long practice. And on hand to watch were some Cougar legends from years who offered up words of wisdom after the workout.

ON THE CALENDAR, the distance between the start of spring workouts and the start of fall camp is only about four months. In the weight room, though, that four months can make a night-and-day difference for an athlete. Take, for example, Washington State offensive lineman Tim Hodgdon.
